The Chattanooga Aquarium

Last Tuesday we went to Chattanooga, TN to meet up with Scott's sister, Kristi, and her family as they were passing thru on a cross country roadtrip back to CO (they are rock stars for driving all the way to the east coast and back - with 2 kids!). We visited the Chattanooga Aquarium downtown, and I must say it was impressive. The design of the aquarium is overall very cool and they have a seahorse exhibit that is so interesting. It was nice spending some time with Kristi, her husband, Glenn, and their adorable daughters, Hazel and June. I forgot to take my camera along - so this first photo I borrowed from Kristi's blog and the second is from Scott's iphone. enjoy!

All the kids in one of the tanks - they could crawl under up into the center - very cool.

Shoot the Hooch

A couple of weekends ago Scott took Jay on his first canoe trip - just a short one down the Chattahoochee River. It was just an hour long excursion. They fished a little and rowed a little down the river. Great father/son bonding. Andrew and I met them for a picnic afterwards. Jay loved his little outing with Dad and came home exhausted.

Zoo Atlanta

Scott had Monday, July 5 off for a holiday so we went to the zoo here in Atlanta. It was a great day - the boys got a kick out of all the animals - it's so fun watching their enthusiasm! The panda bears put on quite a show and the giraffes were a hit too. For those of you in the Atlanta area, this zoo does have a great playground and kiddy play center complete with trains. Here's just a couple of pics from our visit.

4th of July

The Gravely siblings came to visit us in Atanta and celebrate the 4th with us! The weather was unusally mild for Atlanta so we spent most of the day outside in our backyard with food and beverages - a perfect holiday! My brother, Will, took the lead on smoking a pork butt on our grill - it was quite a process but the results were yummy. Some neighbors came over to eat with us before we headed over to another house to see some fireworks. Jay was afraid of the fireworks, but Andrew sat threw them all with his Dad. Enjoy the pics!

Scott and Nick enjoying some sparklers on our back porch.

This was Mary's first sparkler experience - Scott couldn't believe it! Poor deprived Mary... I think she enjoyed them - so festive and fun!

Chef Will smoking the meat and grilling the ribs - yum!

Will and Martha (we missed you Whitney!)

Will (yep - that's right) on the slip and slide. He went down once - turns out the $5 water toy is best used by those 40lbs and under. Ha!

Andrew trying to figure out what to do next...

Getting ready to slide - maybe.

The Morcom family

Jay on the slip and slide - he loves it! I will try to post video sometime.

Our backyard party - slip and slide, inflatable pool, grill, beer, and sunshine - nothing better.

Andrew holding Baby Bill about 5 minutes after he arrived. Andrew LOVED the baby and wanted to hold him all the time. Not sure Aunt Mary was totally happy with this, but it was so cute watching Andrew's total love and affection for his little cousin. awwwww....

Crashed out

Just wanted to share this pic I snapped today of the boys. Both fell asleep in the car after we ran a few errands in the blazing heat. Once we got home, I transferred them to the couch; each proceeded to curl up in their respective balls for an afternoon nap. They must be in touch with their inner yogi - child's pose at its best! Have a good weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Beach Fun

This past weekend we visited with our friends, the Greggs, in Murrells Inlet, SC. We had a great relaxing weekend full of sun, beach fun, good food, laughs, fishing, a sunset cruise, and wonderful warm memories of our kids playing together. Walt is Jay's first friend ever and I have to say it's so fun to see them interact and play to this day, even if we do just get to visit once a year. The kids LOVED all the activities jammed packed into the weekend, especially our trips to the beach. Enjoy the pics; summer is here and it feels awesome! What a great start... Boyd, Scott, Walt, and Jay fishing on the back dock. Walt, Andrew, Jay, and Emmie ready for our sunset cruise.

Andrew out on the beach. Soooooo much better than seeing Pluto in DW! Ha!

Jay enjoying the sand with a truck of course.

Andrew and Mom taking it all in.

The kids found a ghost crab - it freaked them out a little, but boy were they curious!

All the kiddos with Boyd checking out the crab.

Jay with his first friend, Walt.

Three smiles in one pic - YEAH!

Boyd dug a big hole for the kids to play in - this occupied them for a long time - they had so much fun digging in the sand, pouring water in the hole, etc.

Jay taking a brief break.

Sand in between my fingers and toes - :)

Andrew, Emmie, and Jay lounging around in the sand. Andrew and Emmie enjoyed sitting in the sand pit for a long time.

Scott with all the kiddos.
Paige and Emmie on our sunset cruise.

Andrew and Jay when we first got on the boat. Andrew's big eyes cracked us all up!
Enjoying the boat ride...

Boyd let Walt, Jay, and Emmie take turns steering the boat - they all loved it. Here's Jay's turn.

This is a keeper, I hope they stay friends for a long time. :)

Mother's Day 2010

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mother and Scott's wonderful mother! We are so thankful for each of you and appreciate all that you have done for us! May you each have a day full of peace and love!

It's a beautiful day here in Atlanta and we spent the morning at our favorite church and now we are relaxing at home. I must say it's fun to be on the receiving end of mother's day gifts such as the card Jay made for me at pre-school this week. It's priceless - a definite keeper in the file box! I have alot to be thankful for this Mother's Day - Jay and Andrew may be challenging handfuls, but they sure are a blessing! May all my wonderful mommy friends and family have a joyous Mother's Day! xo

Love, Jay - Mother's Day 2010

I am one lucky lady!
